Gest Review - The Grand Budapest Hotel

Once again, Doctor Red has very kindly allowed me to write a guest review for his excellent anipal movie blog. And the movie I bring you today is the latest from director Wes Anderson- you may know him from such films as The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, Moonrise Kingdom and (my personal favourite) The Darjeeling Limited. 

One of the things I love about his movies are the attention to detail- every piece of furnishing, every colour on the screen (including beautiful clothing), the font used in the opening and closing credits, even the fictional books used as props within the film, are designed with meticulous detail. From this perspective, every movie of his is a joy to watch.

And I will say this now: in this reviewer’s own humble opinion this is by far and away his best work to date- it even surpasses The Darjeeling Limited. 

The two central characters, Gustave H and Zero Mustafa, are played by Ralph Fiennes and newcomer Tony Revolori. I’m not usually a huge fan of Fiennes, but he was absolutely amazing in this (he plays a legendary concierge in a Eastern European Grand Hotel in the 1930s). In fact, there are so many famous actors in this movie that it almost distracts you from the story when the next one pops up and you say “Ooh, that’s such and such!” These are all actors who have appeared in previous Anderson films- there is even a blink and you’ll miss it cameo from a VERY famous Hollywood star who previously appeared in his flawed movie version of Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox (I won’t spoil it by saying who).

And now the important bit of the review- the noms. Today, I chose to bypass the usually nachos with radioactive cheese and buckets of Coke Zero and popcorn that are the usual cinema fare, and smuggled in an Espresso Frapuccino and Cheese and Marmite panini from Starbucks. Well, I say smuggle in. I didn’t bother hiding them as it’s not technically against cinema rules to bring outside food in. I still remember the day i dropped my lovely Tesco prawn mayo sandwich on the floor whilst watching The Wolverine- gutted I was. Utterly gutted.

Gest Review - Gavitings

Gravitings

Today we went to see Gravitings, which is a new movie set in space. You can see it in 3D if you like, which is a good idea becuse I heard the real space is in 3D too. The movie is rated 12A which means you must be older than 12 years or the letter A to watch it.

It was a very exciting movie that kept us on the edge of our seats throughout (and not just because I needed to do a wee). Although the poster says it has Dr Doug Ross from ER and Sandra Bullock in it, it mostly has the latter in it. Innit. Except she's not driving a bus in this movie but flying spaceships. And not cool spaceships with lasers like in Star Wars but boring NASA ones that just float about and take measurements. (Side note: if space is mostly empty, what are they measuring? Must ask Jeeves).

The 3D is very good and the surround sound affects are very good too. The camera is very fluid and combined with the 3D and space setting, can make you quite nautious at times, like travel sickness. If this happens, I suggest popping outside for a hot dog. Or maybe some nachos because the director is Mexican and he might have eaten some nachos whilst making this movie. If you get nachos, I suggest lots of bright yellow radioactive cheese that they only serve in cinemas, because that will help you find your seat in the dark when you come back.

All in all, a very good movie with good special effects and lots of thrills and spills. Four and a half sosidjes.

The "Childs Play" Franchise 

by Mr. Milo, Mr. Cheeks and Mr. Farrel Koosa

We watched some movies called "Childs Play" for the scary month of October. These starred a jovial young anipal actor named Chucky. He is a "Good Guy" fella who likes to wear overalls, just like us! He likes to hug and be friends a lot...

Until that horrifying day the spirit of a hoomin tries to invade his body! From then on it becomes a horrible descent into terror and madness as this pleasant anipal friend tries to fight the fleshy monster inside him! He is sold off to a little boy against his will and has multiple hoomins trying to shoot and hurt him all the time. He is shot into a fan and dismembered, he has hot, molten plastic poured over him, all horrible things befall this innocent red headed charmer.

Never fear, he does find the love of his life and even gets to have a baby in "Seed of Chucky"...... but NOOOOOOOO!!! hoomins invade their bodies and make them do evil things, too! A simple plush exorcism could have solved all of this. 

 

We rate these movies 3 sosidjes and one cayk for mild violence. mmmmmm.....sosidjes.

DOLF LUNDGRINGS!!!

Dolph Lundgrings is a blonde behemoth from Sweden who is best known for being the Russian villain, Ivan Drago, in "Rocky 4". He has also played He-Man and the Punishings! Save some good roles for the rest of us, Dolph!

He has a degree in chemical engineering! Koosas love sooper scientist beefcayk geniuses. He used to date Grace Jones from "Conan". They are both very tall and scary! Best couple ever!

He was an Olympic pentathlete! He can do FIVE different things! Also he can play the drums and sing Elvis songs like he did on the Eurovisionings. There should be a gold medal for that. He wrote, directed and starred in "Command Performance" where he plays a rock and roll drummer!

We recommend "I Come in Peace" and "Red Scorpionings". Also he was just in "Universal Soldierings 6" with Jean Claude Van Dammings, who is good at the kickings.

In short, there is nothing Dolph Lundgrings cannot do. He is a true renaissance man.

My gud gud furends da Koosas have reviewed James Bondings fur us all!!! I hopes you enjoys did review, i fink it is beary good!

The new 007 movie came out and we have already seen it twice! In Skyfallings, James Bondings rides motorcycles on rooftops, hangs off of a fancy elevator and fights on top of trains! He has a new Q, who is a young hipster guy who likes the computers.

Everyone tells James Bondings he is old and fat and out of shape. But he looks like sexy Daniel Craig to us! Javier Bardemings plays a creepy flamboyant blonde. Mr. Milo is also a creepy flamboyant blonde! More cayks for this movie.

James Bondings is not as sad and broody as he used to be. He gets his Waltherings PPK and his Aston Martin car! This movie hits you over the head that you can have tradition AND fancy new things.

Five cayks to Skyfallings! The cinematographer, Roger Deakins, has been nominated for Oscars 12 times and never won. We are going to make him a special gold cayk for making such pretty pictures.

It is me again!!!

I do review on new James Bondings film now.

Dis film has James Bondings played by former UK pop star Craig Davids.

It begins wiv big chase scene wiv lots of diffurent transpawt but no #bedbus! Ehehehehe!!

James Bondings goes to many places across da world including Macau. Dis is near Hong Kong where I have been. In Macau James Bondings almost get eaten by dinosaur. My hoomin been to Macau but did not see any of dese. I is a bit confused cos i fort dinosaurs finished a few years ago!!

Watch out!

James Bondings is beary cool, and serious, not smiling or hugging. Pawhaps he needs nice big hug? He spends lot of da film wiv top off, so he must be colds, even more reason to give da hugs! He also stands wiv legs apawt a lot of da time!!! Ehehehehehe!

Da climactic scene is where he booby traps a big house, just like Mcaulaey McKulckings in Home Alone!!!

On da whole i enjoyed dis film beary much. Although Bondings needs to smile a bit more, maybe he sad because he lost his record deal.

Dis is Austin and Alan we went to see da sinisterlings. Dis be a beary scary movies. 

It shows a bunch of hoomins being hungs from a tree in dis movie which is not beary nise, so we covered our eyes often and hung out in the GINORMOUS tub o popcornlings! 

Dey show all dese scenes of dese hoomins being hurted and it's beary graphic and it dusnt even have a happy ending. We give dis movie a half a cayk.

Review - Da Lake House

Hullo ebearyone!!

I do another review now. It is called Da Lake House. It is about two peoples dat fall in loves via postings. Neo from Matrix lives in past, and Bullock lives 2 years latings. Bullock is a doctings like myself, she does not drive speeding bus anymore. Neo has become Architect, he does not fly or fight anymores. Dey communicate by lettings they put on post box which is outside a House by a lake.

Needs curtains

 The film is beary romantics. But i don't understand its. Why didn't Neo just get in post box and travel to future himself without needing to send lettings! Pawhaps it is because he is too bigs, if he was bear he could do this!!!!!Ehehehehehehe.

Too big!

I finks the idea of having postbox to travel in time is good. Because if you have cayk that has gone off, you can send it back in time and it will be nice and fresh in the past!!!

I likes dis film, but not really likes so i give it a nice rating.
